Galgina products are not intended for use in water

In the summertime, dogs enjoy the water more often, so a well-intentioned advice applies here. Galgina’s dog gear is not intended for use in water, especially not in salt water. The latter significantly shortens the life of the products because:

  • metal parts are not resistant to corrosion (they are not rustproof),
  • wet fabric is less resistant to UV exposure,
  • wet fabric is less resistant to rubbing/peeling.

Even dogs won’t mind a nice piece of dog wear for chilling on the beach and for walks by the sea, but you should use gear made of stainless steel or something you won’t regret using for swimming and playing in the water.

Any equipment you, accidentally or intentionally, use in seawater should be carefully washed with fresh water after use and air-dried in the shade. Do not leave wet equipment on the dog, as the humidity and salt together with the summer heat can cause skin problems.

Dogs, especially sighthounds, do not tolerate heat well, even if they are with you on a vacation by the sea so be sure to follow the next tips:

  • walk your dogs in the early morning or late in the evening,
  • always check whether the ground might be too hot for the dog’s paws,
  • dogs should always have a shady place and drinking water available,
  • after a swim in the seawater, shower your dogs with fresh water, dry their ears, and check the paws to make sure there is nothing stuck in them,
  • do not let your dogs drink seawater.
