Puppy collar

Details:

The puppy collar is the smallest and the lightest amongst Galgina’s collars. Its purpose is to get a puppy used to wearing the collar and learning to walk on a leash. You can start using it as soon as the puppy arrives in his new home. The puppy collar is 2,5 cm wide, its size is predefined and determined by the breed. Measurements are therefore not needed to place an order. Puppies can usually wear this adjustable collar until they reach the full-grown size.

The main features of the Puppy collar are:

  • no tightening effect, which allows the puppy to get used to wearing a collar and learning to walk on a leash
  • it has a larger adjustable range than very small martingale collars and is therefore useful for a longer period of time
  • no plastic parts
  • it can’t be unfastened
  • it is safe to use on unsupervised puppies
  • made of slim and lightweight metal fittings

Available sizes:

  • Whippet: adjustable range from 20 to 33 cm – shown in photos above
  • Italian greyhound: adjustable range from 16 to 27 cm

Materials and designs

The nylon core is wrapped in a water-repellent fabric which makes a sturdy collar that can be easily maintained and dries faster than other fabrics. Water-repellent fabric is available in lots of different designs, you can see all of them on the link below.

Correct collar fitting

Loosen the collar so it can easily slip over the puppy’s head. Then it should be placed in the middle of the neck and tightened with a slider. You should be able to put one or two fingers under the collar. Loosen the collar again to take it off.
When the dog is wearing the collar the Galgina label should touch the dog’s neck. If the label is sandwiched between two straps of the collar, the collar is put on the wrong way.

The illustration of the dog’s head shows the loop, through which you place the collar over the dog’s head.

Other options

The same collar type can also be made in a slightly different manner (with a lining), made-to-measure in other sizes, and in different widths. Please find more info about that in the Non-tightening collar post.

If your puppy is very timid, gets easily frightened, or wiggles out of the collar, the martingale collar could be the safer choice for the walks, even though he’ll grow out of it sooner.

Care

Provide regular product maintenance to preserve their cleanliness and safety.
